Keeping Students Mobile

Keeping students mobile is the name of the game with Traveline Cymru’s latest campaign. The campaign utilises media targeted at students to encourage them to leave their cars at home and to hop on the bus or train instead.

The aim of the campaign will be to promote and encourage students to use the mobile services available from Traveline Cymru. It will also highlight the benefits of using the services as well as providing a means for students to find more detailed information about them.

There are many mobile services available from Traveline Cymru. Traveline NextBuses iPhone app is available to download from the iTunes store for 59p. The app provides maps, bus stop information and also departure boards for travel information on the go. There is also the mobile internet site NextBuses.mobi. This service allows you to access bus times for your bus stop on your smart phone. Traveline Cymru also offers the Traveline txt service. A simple service allowing bus times to be sent directly to your mobile by texting the unique bus stop code to 84268.

The promotion will include online advertising on Student Union websites, Student Beans, Student Cardiff, YouTube, Facebook, and the Student Room. There will also be adverts placed on cinema receipts, Capital FM’s iPhone app and Student Union televisions.

Online adverts will link up to the ‘bus times on your mobile’ page on the Traveline Cymru website where individuals will be able to enter a competition. Everyone who enters the competition will be sent a travel wallet with one of the ‘bus times on your mobile’ leaflets inside. Three lucky winners will also receive an iTunes voucher worth up to £50!
